Ordering

There are various ways for you to order a cake with Flecks Cakes.

ONLINE

Visit our Online Shop and if there is a design that you see on our website then you can order it directly via our online checkout process. Just choose from the options and follow the onscreen directions to place your order.
Alternatively if there is something else that you want on your cake that you cannot find, you can enquire by using our enquiry form or by emailing us at [email protected] and we will contact you directly.

We are open Monday through Saturday, we do not have any cakes pre-made for sale and every cake is custom made to order. To check availability or for more information you can call us on 01254 702415, or visit us at the shop

That depends on the type of cake that you are ordering and the level of complexity in the design. Here are our guidelines for our standard cakes:

BIRTHDAY AND CELEBRATION SPONGE CAKES

We typically require at minimum a weeks’ notice on all types of birthday and celebration cakes, however if we have the availability we may be able to accommodate orders with a shorter amount of time.

NEXT DAY CAKES

We are sometimes able to do next day cakes but this is dependent on availability. All next day cakes must be ordered before 12:00 midday, and we can generally have your cake ready for 12:00 midday the following day.

WEDDING CAKES & FRUIT CAKES

We will always do our very best to accommodate all orders, however, if we have the availability of your chosen date, to allow us the sufficient time to create and process your Iced Wedding cake we recommend giving 3 to 6 months lead time on your order and orders are taken on a first come, first served basis. At the moment we are getting booked upto a year in advance – so we would advise to give us as much notice as possible to secure your date.

Yes, of course! We are open Monday to Friday 09:00-16:30 and Saturdays 09:00-12:00. Come in and speak with our friendly staff about what type of cake you want for your special event. The shop is full of designs and cake creations for you to view.

You can view our standard price lists here: Price List, and through ordering online you will be able to see the prices of the cakes before you purchase them. However for more custom designs the prices are based on the complexity and design.

Standard Vanilla Sponge Cakes start from £20.00

Standard Chocolate Sponge Cakes start from £25.00

Fruit Cakes start from £45.00

Two Tier Wedding Cakes start from £140.00

Three Tier Wedding Cakes start from £250.00

Four Tier Wedding Cakes start from £390.00

We are happy to work within your budget and encourage you to contact us so that we can discuss your cake design in person.

All cakes purchased online require payment in full at checkout via debit or credit card. Cakes booked via telephone or in person would require a deposit and all cakes booked for collection within 7 days will require a deposit payment or payment in full at the time of ordering.

Wedding cakes require a £50 non-refundable deposit to reserve your order and secure that date, and the remainder is due one month prior to the event.

If you cancel an order (not including wedding cakes), and providing no work has been started on your cake design, your balance payment is refundable providing Flecks Cakes is notified at least five (5) business days prior to your collection date/ event. There is no payment refund on orders cancelled within five (5) business days of your collection date / event.

For Wedding Cakes cancellations with more than 4 week’s notice before completion, the deposit payment is non-refundable. For cancellations with less than 4 weeks’ notice before the completion date, the full balance is non-refundable.

Delivery & Collection

We do not deliver Birthday Cakes or other Celebration Cakes.

Delivery is available for wedding cakes as part of our service. We offer personal free delivery within a 10 mile radius or our shop in Darwen, Lancashire and we will liaise with your venue to schedule a delivery slot. We may deliver to some areas outside of this, dependent on availability – so please enquire with us directly. This will be charged on an hourly basis and determined by the travel distance and time and labour required. However, as we can only carry out a limited number of personal deliveries, advance booking is highly recommended during the wedding season.

While it is generally not a problem for clients to transport smaller cakes, self-transporting any cake is at your own risk. Flecks Cakes does not recommend clients self-transport cakes over 2 tiers tall, or any cake more than 3 hours, and is not responsible for any damage that may occur to any client-transported cake once it has left our shop / bakery.

We do not ship our cakes

Storage

The Vanilla and Chocolate cakes should last a minimum of 3 days from collection / delivery if they are stored at room temperature in a cool place out of direct sunlight. Once cut the cake should be kept airtight to retain the freshness.

Our Fruit cakes should last at least three months.

Sugar paste (the soft icing covering the cake) is not designed to be refrigerated and as such cakes with this icing should be stored in a cool dry place, preferably in the box they were supplied in, refrigeration may cause colours to run.

Photograph Cakes

For computerised images (a photograph or any picture printed onto edible paper) there is no extra charge.

The edible image will be the same quality as the image we use, so the better the quality of picture, the better the quality of the edible image on the cake. We can enlarge, reduce or crop the image but the largest photo we can scan is A4.

When placing an online order for a photo cake you can attach your photo as per the instructions on the order page.

Alternately if you have the image on your computer then you can send this direct to us using our enquiry form or email us at [email protected] quoting your order number and the date that you have ordered the cake for.

If you only have the image as a hard copy then you would have to bring this to us at your own risk.

Miscellaneous

We are not currently hiring any staff, apprentices, work experience students or volunteers. However, if you are an artist living in the area and would like to be considered for any future vacancies please send us your CV with some examples of your work to [email protected] and we will keep it on file. While we are happy to look at your work, please note that we do not have time to respond to everyone individually.
